Dusan Kadlec
(Canadian, b. 1942) With just one look at his work it's easy to see why Dusan Kadlec is considered one of the foremost marine and heritage artists working today. His highly detailed original oil paintings, prized by connoisseurs the world over, reflect his strong sense of history, and his limited edition fine art prints are in great demand. His meticulously researched work is unsurpassed in the marketplace today. Possessing a refinement of technique and sophistication of palette reminiscent of early eighteenth and nineteenth century masters. His ability to accurately portray a place and time in which he has obviously never been - and in a style so elegant and masterful that it seems to come from that very place and time itself is truly unique in contemporary art. Dusan received his masters degree form the prestigious Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in 1967. His experience in Prague was inspiration for his cityscape architectural paintings. Dusan settled in the Canadian Maritimes where he still works and makes his home to this day. From his hilltop studio in a picturesque fishing village, Dusan has created a large body of work over the past three decades. From simple yet powerful portraits of Grand Bank schooners racing for home port in a heavy sea to more ambitious historic harbor scenes throughout North America, Europe, and the Orient.
